The Asian Art Museum of San Francisco houses one of the most comprehensive collections of Asian art in the Western world, with over 18,000 works spanning 6,000 years and more than 40 countries. Founded in 1966 with industrialist Avery Brundage's personal collection, the museum showcases masterworks of Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Southeast Asian, South Asian, and Himalayan art.
