The Freer Gallery of Art on the National Mall in Washington, D.C. is part of the Smithsonian Institution and one of the premier Asian art museums in the world. Founded through the bequest of industrialist Charles Lang Freer, the museum holds a stunning collection of Asian art alongside a significant collection of American art, most notably the world's largest collection of works by James McNeill Whistler, including the celebrated Peacock Room.
